~"The Man Who Sells Souls"~

"Alright, Edward….where the hell are you, you chibi-chump?"

Cade had been waiting at hospital main entrance for the given fifteen minutes and even graciously waited another five minutes for the alchemist who had practically sworn up and down that he didn't need to be told again and again when to come back. That notion seemed to crash land fantastically.

"Dammit…I'm wasting time…" Cade's eyes darkened. "I can't stand that."

The young woman sighed. "Guess I gotta go look for O-chibi."

Cade began venturing down the hallway which Edward took earlier.  One of the overhead lights crackled and went out. She hoped that wouldn't happen again. The idea of looking for someone in pitch-darkness was unappealing, even to her. "Man, this is such a big hospital…how am I ever gonna find such a pipsqueak-y kid? Hey, wait a minute…"

After going about the upcoming corner, Cade spied a door on the left side. Trying the knob, she realized it was locked. The young woman cracked her knuckles and, turning her heel, brought her opposite leg up and kicked the door in.

"That never ceases to amuse me."

Upon entering the room, Cade was met with a most peculiar setting. It seemed to be a ritual room of some sort. What really caught her eye though was the desk. This wasn't really because of the desk itself, of course, but the items upon said desk. There were several beakers and a few different measuring devices such as tablespoons and scales, but there were small plastic bags of a white powdery substance. Eyes widening, right then Cade knew who had been spiking the Chalice at the church.

"I've gotta find Edward!"

-"Don't bother looking, Cade. He's right here."

A creaking sound came from the door of the back room as it opened. Out of the room came Doctor Marshall pushing a gurney with Edward unconscious and strapped down upon it.

"I was going to look for you next. I figured if that boy was here, then you must have been as well. My hunch was correct, it seems."

"Those white granules….they're sulfites, aren't they?"

"Oh yes. They most definitely are, Cade. But what do you care?"

"People were getting sick off of the Communion wine up at Canterlain's church. I had my suspicions from the start that it was you. I really hoped that it wasn't though, and I mean that sincerely."

Doctor Marshall hung his head and let it rest on his raised fist. "I hate perceptive people like you, Cade."

"Yeah, I'll bet."

"Still, I'm impressed. How did you go about suspecting me from the start?"

"As a doctor, you would have access to chemicals that the other civilians wouldn't and, there's only one person who stands to gain anything from sick people; the guy who treats them!"

Marshall clapped mockingly. "Very well done. Honestly, good job."

"There's one thing I still don't get, though."

"Oh? And what is that, Cade?"

"Why are you making people sick, Doctor Marshall?"

"Why? Well it's a bit convoluted, but it's like this; I spike the wine glass and people get sick because of the sulfites. They come to me for treatment and I tell them give them what looks like a harmless vaccination, but in actuality, I'm injecting them with potassium chloride. As a chemistry wiz, you should know that more than five CC's of it makes the human heart stop!"

"So you kill them?! For what point and purpose?!"

"I kill these people so that Lord can take their souls!"

"Lord? What does God have to do with killing people and taking their souls?"

Doctor Marshall locked his eyes with hers. "Who said Lord was God, Cade?"

Edward began finally began stirring from his forced slumber. "C…Cade….?"

"Edward….alright, so if Lord isn't God, then who the hell are you talking about?" Cade demanded.

-"Why, Cade. That would be me." A second voice came from the backroom.

Edward's eyes snapped open and the first thing he laid eyes on was some sort of creature in a coat and top hat. He had a long, purple face and pointed ears. The man wore glasses and had a mouth full of huge teeth that seemed to be stuck in a permanent malevolent grin. Trembling with fear, Edward had no idea what to make of the horrible yellow-eyed man-creature staring down at him.

"Marshall…this boy isn't dead." He said, teeth never once parting. And then the huge man turned to Cade and extended the greeting, "It has been quite awhile, hasn't it?"

The young woman said nothing, but continued to glower at the infamous evil sorcerer.

"Forgive me, Lord. I was interrupted." Marshall explained.

"C…Cade….who….what is that?" Edward almost whimpered. "How does he know you??"

Every muscle in Cade's body had tensed up. "Edward….he is the Millennium Earl."

Oh hell no! It's a.....CROSSOVER?! DUN DUN DUN...!

Cade and Marshall are mine.

Edward and The Millennium Earl belong to two different, but equally amazing manga artists~

D.Gray-Man!!! Congratulations, you've managed to entice me completely with my favorite manga/anime ever! xD (I saw in the comments on chapter 11 that it would be a crossover and I was like READING NOW.) I mean, it was amazing before, but now...:faint: I'm actually coming up with theories for where this is going in the short term. xD I actually thought Dr. Marshall was Tyki until the Earl called him Marshall. ^^; But noooo, only one more update left (for the moment)! T^T
